I was planning to accomplish many things last weekend but Frank ruined them all. I was supposed to:
1. Shop for Pants
2. Have a haircut
3. Shop for Baptismal Gifts
4. Shop for Kitchen Utensils
Note: I am using my psychological wallet a.k.a credit card since salary was still a week from that time.
However, after reading several news items I felt bad about myself. Geez, I was being selfish. People are dying, losing homes, losing kins, etc and all I thought was Frank ruined my weekend.
Aside from that, my cousin lay on the hospital after suffering miscarriage. All I was thinking was I need to get out of the house. To think the only reason why I wanted to run and go about was I am tired of being a couch potato. Though I have plenty of movies to watch, I was not really in the mood to lie on bed all day. But Frank came, my modd really turned sour. I did not even go to mass and visit my cousin. After several hours, I felt bad about my actions and my self.
Frank really ruined my weekend because he made me felt bad and I became a Couch Potato again for 3 weeks running. I really need to do something about my weekend. Rest is needed but being a couch potato is tiresome and a shitty experience.
On to the DVD:
I watched Full Metal Alchemist for the whole weekend and finished the 51 episodes. For new anime fans (like me), this one is a must-see. To summarize the story, two brothers attempted human transmutation through alchemy, the science of their world. With the concept of equivalent trade, Ed (older brother) lost his leg while his Al (younger brother) lost his body. To ensure Al will not die, Ed sacrificed his arm to be able to attach Al's soul onto a suit of armor.
Human Transformation is taboo because this is an attempt to bring someone back to life. Though they know it is forbidden, the brothers attempted it to bring their mother back to life. This act created the path for the brothers to search for the Philosopher's Stone. It is a stone believed to let them forego equivalent trade. The search will lead them to many troubles but they continued to search for it in order to return their bodies to normal. Will they succeed?
The anime touches on political concepts and the familiar family concepts. Though a common topic in the literary world, what makes it a good anime is the flow of the story. It was not rushed. You see a clear purpose and direction. The important characters were developed beautifully. This gives you a sense of being with the brothers as they traverse their quest.
You must also look into the characters and the details given to each to match their personalities. Even Al, who is a suit of armor, have the details that matches his personality.
The personalities to look out for are:
1. Edward Elric - older brother
2. Alphonse Elric - younger brother
3. Roy Mustang
4. Maes Hughes
You might be asking why these four and why all guys, well, it is a shonen anime so most of the characters are guys. Lastly, their storyline, for me, is interesting. I included Maes because it is biankita's favorite and most of the anime bloggers liked him (according to biankita).
Well, that was my weekend. This weekend will be different because I will be really busy. Rain or shine, I need to be out and about.
P.S. I have not watched the movie. I will look for it when I have time. Thanks to biankita for letting me borrow the DVDs. I will watch it again so I will return it sometime July. If you are an anime fanatic, you might want to try out her blog. She is an anime blogger after all. From there, you can go to other anime blogs that provides good insights and feedbacks.
